Upward Bound is a federally funded educational program within the United States. The program is one of a cluster of programs referred to as Trio, all of which owe their existence to the federal Higher Education Act of 1965. The goal of Upward Bound is to provide certain categories of high school students better opportunities for attending college. The categories of greatest concerns are those with low income, those with parents who did not attend college, and those living in rural areas.
In 2012 and 2013, Youth Business University had the opportunity to provide combined Economic Development, Life Skills, Personal Finance, Strategic Life Plan, and Workforce Empowerment Workshops to students involved in the Georgia State (Gwinnett County and Fulton County) Upward Bound Program.
In 2012, Youth Business University CEO Jeffery D. Henderson was the keynote speaker at the Georgia State (Gwinnett County and Fulton County) Upward Bound Program Year-End Celebration and Graduation.
in 2013, CEO Henderson was one of the speakers at the State of Georgia Trio Conference.
